Nanded (Maharashtra): The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) joined the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra which entered the Nanded area on Thursday. Those who took part in the Yatra included state NCP chief Jayant Patil, Baramati MP Supriya Sule and party leader Jitendra Jitendra Awhad. The Yatra entered its Maharashtra leg four days ago.
As the march is progressing, things are getting more difficult for Rahul Gandhi’s security personnel. The Congress MP from Wayanad has stopped many times along the route to greet people and shook hands with the crowd waiting for him on both sides of the road. The Congress leader also clicked photographs with children. In the evening, he addressed a rally in Nanded where party president Mallikarjun Kharge along with NCP leaders will be present. The Congress and the NCP were together in power in Maharashtra for 15 years from 1999 to 2014.
Both the parties were part of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state from November 2019 to June 29 this year. The government fell after internal rebellion in the Shiv Sena. The Yatra which entered Maharashtra on Monday night will cover Nanded city, Deglur and Ardhapur areas and proceed to Hingoli on Friday. The Yatra which began from Kanyakumari on September 7, will reach Srinagar in January next year after covering 3, 750km.
