Mumbai police asks personnel above 55 years of age to go on paid leave

Mumbai: Mumbai: Across the country, cases of corona infection are increasing rapidly. So far, around 3000 policemen have been infected by Corona in Maharashtra. At the same time, 30 have died so far. In view of this, the Uddhav government of Maharashtra has decided to send police personnel over the age of 55 on leave with salary.

The department has also decided to compensation of Rs 50 lakh to such victims in its ranks.

The decision was taken by Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh as a precautionary measure for the protection of the police personnel from the age bracket that seems more vulnerable to the novel coronavirus.

Those aged above 52 but with serious medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension etc will also follow suit.

Till the lockdown period, local police station staff will operate on 12-hour duty and 24-hour rest system, according to an official spokesperson.

With this, the Maharashtra government has also decided to give emergency parole to 11 thousand more prisoners. Home Minister Deshmukh said, ‘There were about 38,000 prisoners in 60 jails of Maharashtra. So far 9671 prisoners have been released. Now we have decided to send 11 thousand more prisoners on emergency parole. We have built 31 temporary jails in 24 districts.
