Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has launched Gandhi Choupal to revive its workers in the state. The initiative has received a huge response from the party cadre, especially in rural areas, said Congress leaders on Wednesday.
Tribal artistes from Betul have composed and sung a song on Gandhi Choupal evoked good response on social media.
The party leaders, monitoring the initiative, said that they were trying to know from the grass-roots workers where Rahul Gandhi can address at least one Choupal when the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh enters Madhya Pradesh.
The party has begun the initiative to infuse a new life into its workers because of the next year’s assembly election. Now, the party leaders are trying to reach out to people in their respective areas through Gandhi Choupals. Each party leader, including legislators, has been asked to organise 100 Gandhi Choupals in their respective constituencies, party sources said.
MPCC president Kamal Nath will also take part in one such Choupal in his home district, Chhindwara. Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta, who is heading the initiative, said that the party had appointed 2,700 coordinators across the state to monitor the move which began from October 2. It will conclude on January 31, next year.
More than 4,000 Choupals have so far been organised. Most of them were held in Vindhya region, Gupta said, adding that they plan to hold 25,000 such Choupals by January 31.
