Pele, one of the best footballers in the world, died after battling a serious illness like cancer. Pele’s death has sent shockwaves across the football world. Especially for Mohun Bagan, the only club in the country against whom three-time World Cup winner Pele participated in an exhibition match.

Not only Mohun Bagan but also its arch-rivals East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting have flown their flags at half-mast in mourning Pele’s departure.

Mohun Bagan club will soon have a Pele gate in memory of Pele, announced secretary Debashish Dutta.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) also announced a seven-day mourning to commemorate Pele’s achievements.
