Meerut: An example of communal harmony was seen in Meerut on Tuesday when the final ceremony of the priest of a temple in lockdown was arranged by the Muslims and took the bier to the crematorium.
According to the news, there is a historical temple of Lord Chitragupta in Kayastha Dharamshala located in Shahpeergate. On the first floor of Dharamshala, temple priest Ramesh Chand Mathur (68) lived with his family. He was ill for a long time. He died at around two o’clock on Tuesday afternoon. Only wife Rekha Mathur and younger son Chandramouli were at home. The elder son was in Delhi who could not reach due to the lockdown. In such a situation, the Muslims of Shahpeergate came forward and performed the rituals before the last rites.
Surajkund crematorium ghats about 2.5 km from Kayastha Dharamshala. Some people asked for the Corpse cart from the Surajkund crematorium. But the Muslim brothers said that we will take the uncle on foot only. The bier was taken from his shoulders to the crematorium. Whoever saw this scene on the way, could not stop from praising this example of communal harmony.
