Bhopal: A man has recently assaulted a Sadhu and clipped his hair in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. It happened just after an incident in which the husband of a BJP leader thrashed a mentally challenged man, suspecting him to be a member of a particular community in Neemuch district. The man identified as Bhawarlal Jain died because of thrashing.

The case of a Sadhu being beaten up occurred on Sunday, but it came to light after a video clipping went viral on social media on Tuesday, the Khandwa police said. Immediately after that, the government swung into action and asked the police to arrest the man responsible for attacking the Sadhu, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra said on Wednesday. The culprit was arrested, he said.

Mishra told journalists that the incident was highly condemnable and those insulting Sadhus should be handed severe punishment. In the video clipping, a man is seen dragging a Sadhu to a hairdresser’s shop in a market in Khandwa district to get his hair clipped.

The incident occurred in the tribal area of Patajan village of the district, and the man who assaulted the Sadhu was identified as Praveen Gaur, a hotelier. Mishra said that the police had taken action against the accused immediately after verifying the video clipping and that he had directed the cops to take stern stringent action against the culprit.

According to the police, the Sadhu had an argument with Parveen, but the latter suddenly flew off the handle and began to hurl abuses at the Sadhu. He dragged the Sadhu to a nearby barber’s and cut off his hair. The police said that the Sadhu did not lodge any complaint and left the city after the incident.
