Lucknow: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the BJP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state police chief on reports of 57 minor girls being infected with the corona virus at a government shelter home in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Citing reports, the commission said the girls had been showing symptoms for some time but were “delayed” to take them to the hospital for testing.

The Commission said in a statement, “The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the media reports that 57 minor girls have been found infected with Covid-19 in a government-run child shelter in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. . “

The Commission observed, “If the facts reported in the media report are true, prima facie it is worth believing that public servants have failed to provide protection to the victim girls.

Commission issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and called for a detailed report on the health status of the girls, medical treatment and counseling.

According to the statement, a notice has also been issued to submit a report to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh regarding the FIR lodged in the case and the investigation conducted so far. Explain that seven of the infected girls are pregnant and one has AIDS. The Kanpur district administration on Sunday clarified that the girls were pregnant at the time of being brought to the shelter.
