In a major anti-drug operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Indian Coast Guard jointly seized more than 100 kg of cocaine worth around ₹1,000 crore near the Kutch coast in Gujarat.
According to sources, security agencies intercepted and searched a European ship that had reportedly arrived from Port Qasim.
One person has been arrested in connection with the seizure, while further investigation is underway to trace the network, supply route, and people involved in the operation.
Officials said the Gujarat Director General of Police will hold a press conference later in the day to share more details about the operation and the arrests.
The seizure is being seen as one of the biggest drug busts in recent times along India’s western coastal border.
This is also the third cocaine seizure reported in the country within the last one week.
Earlier, on May 23, a couple arriving from Addis Ababa was caught at the Mumbai Airport. During questioning, officials recovered 84 capsules containing around 1.40 kg of cocaine from them.
In another case on May 19, an African man and woman arriving from Addis Ababa were arrested at Mumbai airport after officials recovered 63 capsules containing 850 grams of cocaine worth around ₹4.25 crore.
All four accused in the Mumbai cases have been arrested.
