New Delhi: Metro rail service is going to start again in the country from 7 September. The Central Government has issued guidelines regarding this. Also, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has also made some announcements. On Wednesday, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that from September 7, the metro rail operations will resume in a systematic manner. In such metro systems where there is more than one line, separate lines will be opened in calibrated manor from 7 September. This is so that all the corridors are operational by 12 September.
It further said that opening and calibrated manor of Metro Rail Service will need to be reviewed. If we feel that social distancing is not being followed during the resumption of operations, then we will have no other option than to review these arrangements.
Puri further said that the frequency of metro trains will need to be regulated. Containment Jones’ metro stations will remain closed. Wearing a face mask will be mandatory. Only those people will be allowed to travel in the metro after thermal screening, which will not have symptoms of covid19. Puri also said that the metro trains will be stopped for a sufficient time at the station to ensure that passengers can climb and descend comfortably in the metro, while ensuring social distancing. Metro Rail Corporation can also resolve not to stop trains at some stations to ensure proper social distance sing.
