Taking strict action against violent content ; the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has banned 45 YouTube videos belonging to 10 channels with high viewership and following for spreading hatred and wrong information.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has given a verdict to YouTube to these channels with immediate effect.
The government has been keeping a close eye on all platforms and activities. The action was taken in consultation with intelligence agencies on September 23 who were closely monitoring the platform and the content.
Whatever has been done is for the betterment and in the interest of the people of our nation, and the ministry will continue to take more such actions in future.
The content of the videos was misleading and contained fake news and contorted videos to promote hatred in the name of religious beliefs.
The video contained wrong information about the government taking away the religious rights of some communities leading to an unpleasant atmosphere around and disrupting peace in the country.
“The officials on duty were closely looking into the matter and found the videos to be containing false and sensitive information which could hamper national security and India’s friendly relations with foreign countries.
The ministry reaffirmed the public and said that the government is vigilant ands remains committed to the sentiments of people belonging to different communities and will curb all attempts by some bad actors to protect India’s sovereignty and reputation, its security, relations with other countries.
