Following Twitter, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has turned their focused to the next big social media giant, twitter. Satya Yadav, who is the head of Facebook India’s safety has been given a summons notice. The child rights organization urged Facebook on Friday to take action against Rahul Gandhi for uploading the video of the girl’s family, claiming that it breached the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act, 2012, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It also ordered that the video be taken off from the platform.
Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 forbids revealing a child’s identity in any media. Section 23 of the POCSO Act of 2012 similarly prohibits publishing any information or photo of a child in any form of media that might expose the kid’s identity.

As defined by Section 23 of the POCSO Act, this information includes the child’s family details, neighborhood, school, name, residence, and any other facts that might lead to the child’s identity being revealed. The NCPCR stated, “In light of the above, the Commission finds it appropriate to take suo-moto cognizance under Section 13(1) of the CPCR Act, 2005 and notice under Section 14 of the CPCR Act, 2005 in this issue.”
Previously, the NCPCR had written to Twitter, requesting that it take action against Gandhi for publishing a photo of the family on the social media site. Following that, Twitter briefly suspended Rahul Gandhi’s account, claiming that the Congress leader’s message had been evaluated against its laws and standards. The NCPCR has also taken the matter to the Delhi High Court.
Rahul met the family of the nine-year-old child last week and stated that he is with them on their quest for justice and that he “will not back down even one inch.” He then tweeted a photo of his meeting with the girl’s parents, writing in Hindi, “The tears of the parents can only mean one thing: their daughter, this country’s daughter, deserves justice.”
When she went to fetch water from a cremation cooler in the Old Nangal neighbourhood of southwest Delhi, the girl died under unexplained circumstances. The girl’s parents said she was raped, and her body was forcefully burned by a cremation priest who claimed she had been electrocuted.
