On Sunday, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala condemned Karnal sub-divisional magistrate Ayush Sinha’s order to police officers to beat up demonstrators during the farmers’ demonstration in Karnal and stated action would be taken against the IAS officer. Action will undoubtedly be taken against him, according to Chautala.
During Saturday’s farmers’ protest in Karnal, Sinha, a Haryana cadre 2018-batch IAS official, was recorded on camera directing police officers to beat up protestors and not to allow anybody pass the security perimeter without a “broken head.” Sinha is seen telling a group of cops in a video clip that went viral around the time police clamped down on farmers: “Utha utha ke maarna peeche sabko (strike them). We are not going to let this cordon be broken. We have sufficient force on hand.

On the other hand, Sinha later claimed that the viral video was “doctored” since “just a section regarding the lathicharge was made public on social media platforms.” “The lathicharge took occurred at the Bastara toll plaza, where another SDM was stationed, not me. My detachment point was 10-15 kilometres away from the main lathicharge site. At my naka, nothing occurred. The police officers who I had briefed did nothing.

The Chief Minister’s Office also spoke with Sinha and deemed his response “acceptable” for the time being. Haryana Police used a lathicharge at the Bastara toll booth on the national highway on Saturday, injuring many farmers in Karnal. Farmers were protesting a BJP gathering over the upcoming panchayat elections. The incumbent chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar was the primary head of the meet.
