Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said that curfew will end in Punjab after May 18. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder said late Saturday that curfew would end in the state after May 17 in Punjab and the steps would be announced soon. Along with this, he said that the lockdown will continue in the state till May 31. In the meantime shops and small businesses in the non-cantonment area will be exempted.

The state government has also appealed to the people of the state to help authorities impose the lockdown till the end of May. We will be making announcements that will bring relief to the people of the state as lockdown 4.0 begins on May 18, CM Amarinder Singh said. He added that the government’s strategy cannot succeed without the help and compliance of the public.

All cities in Punjab will be opened so that businesses can be allowed to reopen. Only areas and streets where patients who test positive for the novel coronavirus are found will be sealed. This policy will be the state’s strategy going forward and will come into effect from May 18 onwards.
