Bhopal (MP): Vyapam is an examination board which conducts tests for recruitment to various government departments and for admission into medical and technical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. A few people manipulated the examinations conducted by the board and helped the ineligible candidates to pass the tests and get jobs by taking a huge amount of money from them. This is one of the big recruitment scams in the country. The scam which has rattled the Madhya Pradesh government has taken many twists and turns.

Many inquiries were held in the multi-crore scam. The case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

A special court of the central probe agency convicted five people in connection with the scam and sent them to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment.

Besides, the court imposed a fine of Rs 10, 000 on each of the scamsters. Nevertheless, two of them were acquitted for want of concrete evidence. Special public prosecutor representing the probe agency, Satish Dinkar, said that the sentenced people had been involved in a scam connected with the police constable examinations in 2013. The convicts belonged to a group that used to manipulate seating arrangements to help those who gave bribes to pass the examinations and get jobs.
