New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is playing a ‘disgusting game’ under the garb of nationalism and accused it of having links with terrorists, the Congress said on Saturday. The Congress leader and head of the party’s media cell head Pawan Khera said that the party would hold press conferences across the country over the issue. The BJP has, however, denied the allegations. Khera said that the Congress had never tried to do politics on the issue of terrorism, but the way the BJP’s links with terrorists are coming out in the open, the party is forced question them about it.
Khera openly said that Riyaz Attari, one of the main accused in the killing of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, was a member of the BJP since 2019. Besides, in Jammu and Kashmir, the villagers caught hold of two terrorists. One of them called Talib Hussain was an office-bearer of the BJP’s minority cell in Jammu and Kashmir. Both the terrorists were planning to kill Amarnath Yatra, Khera said.
“Even Irfan Khan, alleged mastermind of chemist Umesh Kolhe’s murder in Maharashtra’s Amravati, had campaigned for Independent MP Navneet Rana whose links with the BJP are better known to the media than to me,” Khera alleged. Rana, however, said that neither she nor her husband Ravi Rana had any links with the main accused in the murder of Kolhe.
The BJP was trying to divert peoples’ attention from critical issues like unemployment, price rise and mismanagement of the economy, he said, adding that the saffron party wanted to create an atmosphere of hatred and seek votes by claiming to be the ‘thekedar’ (custodian) of one particular religion. Asked about the use of the term ‘Hindu terrorism’ Khera claimed that a former bureaucrat in the home ministry who later joined the BJP was the first one to use it.
