Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh): After the Congress, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing rebellion in Himachal Pradesh where assembly elections will be held on November 12. Two senior leaders of the BJP resigned from the party and filed nomination papers as independent candidates, sources said on Tuesday.

Tuesday was the last day for filing papers which can be withdrawn till October 29. The results will be declared on December 8, sources said.

Vice president of the party Scheduled Tribe Morcha Vipin Naihariya has quit the party. Similarly, president of the party’s Dharamshala district unit Anil Choudhary resigned from the organisation. Both Naihariya and Choudhary were aspiring for party tickets for the ensuing assembly polls, but the party has given tickets to the leader of Other Backward Classes Rakesh Chaudhary and sitting law-maker Vishal Naihariya.

Sitting legislator is with the party and expressed confidence in Rakesh Choudhary’s ability to win the elections. Meanwhile, Vipin Naihariya, who belongs to Gaddi community, said that all office-holders of the BJP’s Dharamshala Mandal had resigned in protest against the party’s giving ticket to Chaudhary.
