New Delhi: Chief Justice of India NV Ramana is scheduled to retire on August 26. The five issues are awaiting his decision. They include Maharashtra political affair, Pegasus panel report, Prime Minister’s security lapse in Punjab, Maharashtra Wakf Board’s attempt to remove Attorney General KK Venugopal from the case, Karnataka High Court judgement on wearing Hijab etc.
He attributed the reasons for pendency of cases across the country to non-filling up of judicial vacancies and lack of proper judicial infrastructure. Last week, Chief Justice Ramana threw a volley of questions at a senior lawyer Harish Salve. He was hearing the case of political developments in Maharashtra and Salve was representing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on merger and defection.
