Banda: Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Mukhtar Ansari from Mau was brought to Banda Jail from Punjab in the early hours of Wednesday. This distance of 900 km was covered in about 16 hours. The UP Police convoy entered the Uttar Pradesh border on Tuesday evening. Prayagraj Zone Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Prem Prakash said that Mukhtar Ansari’s convoy entered the Peripheral Expressway in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh at around 6 pm on Tuesday evening. A police officer said that Ansari will be kept in barrack number 15 of the district jail.
Before Mukhtar Ansari reached Banda jail, the jail was converted into a police camp. An officer of the police said that on the demand of the Banda jail administration, additional soldiers have been deployed in the jail premises. The official said that all the formalities to bring mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari were completed. Another police official said that keeping in view the security of Mukhtar Ansari, tenants of hotels and houses of the city are also being investigated.
Banda in-charge jailer Pramod Tiwari said, “Security arrangements are complete in the jail premises. Security personnel have been deployed outside and inside the jail. The lighting, drinking water system and cleanliness in the barrack number-15 of the jail have been repaired earlier.
He informed that movement of other prisoners has been banned in Barrack No-15 and three security personnel will also be posted inside the barrack. Tiwari said that the main gate of the jail complex, which remained open till now, has been closed and only jail personnel who are on duty after search are allowed to enter.
