One section of the Muslims is of the view that they should get the right of wearing hijab, as it is said in their religion. So as the AIMPLB also. Board members said that wearing the hijab is their religious right and it shouldn’t be forbidden. In view of religious rights, AIMPLB decided to move to the supreme court against the High Court’s verdict over it. The high court said that Hijab is not mandatory in the religious practice of Islam. The state government has the right to make laws over uniforms in educational institutions. Board members said that the Hijab i.e. headscarf is one of the religious practices because the holy Quran says females to cover their hair, head, and neck portion. Hijab is not a burka. They both are different things.

Uniform Civil Code is also on target
AIMPLB has also targeted uniform civil code. Recent formed Uttarakhand government has constituted a committee to think over the possibilities of imposing a common civil code in the state. Board members said that this common civil code will prohibit them from their religious practices. The constitution of India gives the liberty to each citizen of the nation to have and practice their religion. None of the government should target it. Board members said if they will impose, then the board will search a legal aspect of preventing their religious practices.
