Bhopal: Eight rape cases have come to light from different parts of Madhya Pradesh in the past 72 hours. Six were reported from Bhopal, capital of the state and one each from Indore and Gwalior districts. In Indore, a 12-year-old boy violated a three-year-old on Sunday and some youngsters gang-raped a minor in Gwalior on May 27.

The boy was taken into custody.  The police said that the boy and a survivor are neighbours in the same locality in the Banganga area, Indore district. On Sunday, the girl went to a grocer’s where the boy met her and took her to his house on the pretext of giving her a piece of chocolate. As the toddler knew the boy, she went along with him.

When the girl did not return home, her mother began to search for the child, and just as she entered her neighbour’s house, she got the shock of her life seeing the baby lying naked and crying bitterly, the police said. By the time her mother entered the house, the boy ran away. The police booked the boy as well as his father.

On the same day, four rape cases were reported from different areas in Bhopal. In the first incident, a man violated a 25-year-old woman, a resident of Jahangirabad area in the city. She told the police that she had come to know the man through a matrimonial website. He had introduced himself to the woman as an army man and resident of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, the police said, adding that the culprit came to Bhopal, took her to a hotel and raped her.

In another case, reported from Nazirabad police station, a man raped a 50-year-old woman, barging into her house at night. The survivor sent a complaint to the police by post. In the third incident, reported from the Bilkhiria area in the city, a man abducted a 20-year-old woman and raped her. Similarly, a man entered the house of a17-year-old woman in Kamala Nagar area in the city and raped her.

In yet another incident on Monday, a group of youngsters stalked a 12-year-old girl, a student of class 11, assaulted and molested her in full public view in Kamala Nagar area.

Similarly, on May 27, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped in Gwalior district of the state. The rapists also forced the girl to take contraceptives. On May 28, a 17-year-old girl, complained to the police that a married man from the Shamla Hills area raped her for more than two years on the pretext of marriage.

This has happened at a time when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has pulled down houses of criminals and directed the police to wipe out the rapists.
