NationalBJP MP Pragya Thakur’s remark against Kamal Nath kicks up dust

Date:

Bhopal: Member of Parliament from Bhopal Pragya Thakur again kicked up dust by issuing a controversial statement against MP Congress Committee’s president and former chief minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday. Nath recently said, “I say with pride that I am a Hindu, but not a fool. We do not make religion a political issue because it is linked to our sentiments. We do not make religion the base of our politics. We do not make an event. Our religion is an event in our family, not part of politics.”

Reacting to Nath’s statement, Thakur said, “At the age of 75-76 years when Nath calls himself a Hindu, I want to know what he has been till today. You should ask your mother what you are by birth.” As usual, her statement has kicked up a storm across the state. Leader of opposition Govind Singh said that an MP with a criminal background is not expected to say anything better than this.

Thakur made the statement at a government function in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. She stated, “Nath belongs to a party whose first prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru said that he had been a Hindu by accident, and that the Congress has never considered itself a Hindu party.”

As Nath has come to know after all these years that he is a Hindu, it means there is something wrong, Thakur said, adding that Nath has called himself a Hindu, since all Hindus can live with dignity under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
