Why does Indian society blame women for men’s failure?

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma who recently announced her pregnancy with cricketer Virat Kohli, is again in a controversy.

Indian cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar commented on Kohli’s failure with the bat during Royal Challenger Bengaluru’s match with Kings XI Punjab.

The comment was really in bad taste as Gavaskar said, “Inhone lockdown me toh bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai, (he has only faced Anushka’s bowling in lockdown)”.

I don’t understand why do Indian women have to bear all the brunt when a man fails in his personal or professional life?

How is a woman to be blamed for a man’s defeat? Why is she is held responsible when a family breaks? Why is she shamed for being on her own or independent?

It’s time for the Indian society to grow up and understand that a woman should be given respect despite whatever happens in her or her man’s life.

It’s time for women to speak up and put a stop to the bias and inequal treatment that they are getting since ages.
