Love is all about being for each other in good and bad times. Love starts with first self-love. Honestly speaking, we have been trained so much from romantic movies and novels that we have started finding love in materialistic things. A child thinks that he is truly loved only if his parents take care of all his or her needs. A wife thinks she is truly loved only if her husband considers her utmost importance in his life over anyone else. A friend thinks he has a genuine bond with the other person only if he has been helped and supported at all times.

But let me tell you this from my 15 years of first-hand experience with relationships of all kinds. I can say 15 years because it was during my teenage when I actually started understanding more about myself and others. I cannot say that I know myself totally but all I can say is I am able to at least get an understanding and awareness to a certain extent of my inner-self.
Even I felt cheated in friendships and betrayed in family relations during my most vulnerable times. I had almost thought that God doesn’t exist, like if there was really a Supreme Power then why so much suffering to mankind, such was my spiritual awareness a long time back. I started believing in love and trust in God when I got to know more about myself through my experiences in my life. In all my relations with others, I researched and found that the times when I am not taking good care of myself is when all my relations go downhill.

It means when we are in self-love (remember there is a difference between selfishness, selflessness, and self-love) and the more you are truly in love with yourself by setting the right boundaries with yourself and others, is when actually you can spread happiness and love to others.
