View life as it comes, one day at a time

I was working as a full-time content writer in a well-known media company when the pandemic started. I would have completed almost two years in that company but had to resign from the job due to the lockdown of the first wave of COVID-19. Anxious about how am I going to pay my bills, I asked my husband what should be my next step. Unfortunately, he was also facing job issues at his workplace and we had ailing elderly in-laws who had no idea of what the pandemic is all about.

At home, we ensured that my elderly in-laws don’t get any idea about our job problems because of their age and health complications. Few months after the pandemic’s first wave ended, my father-in-law passed away and a few months post that, my husband decided to quit his full-time job due to increased levels of anxiety at home and office amid the pandemic times.

Unaware of how to deal with all these life’s traumatic situations considering I was newly married, I requested my parents to support me at an emotional level and give me space and time to search for a new job and reset my career. I started writing for a website that liked my work and gave me good pay that can pay my basic bills, this opportunity gave me the confidence to start freelancing as a writer and not think or plan much for the future.

Then the second wave of the pandemic happened in which 4 of my relatives passed away and increased anxiety in me. I started feeling worse about life but continued writing which was a healing process for me to stay away from negativity. After a few months, my husband took up a job and that lowered my tension to some extent. However, family issues due to elderly parents and in-laws still continue to distract me from my goals.

Just today morning, I read a message that we are so much into thinking about the future of the third wave, fourth wave, vaccination, social distancing, conflicts, etc. that we have forgotten to enjoy and live each day. Then I realized to distance myself from unnecessary people and thoughts which are not good for my health and focus on only ONE DAY AT A TIME. I hope this transition will help me tackle the life situations that occur in the coming times.
