You would be amazed to know that Kolkata has a new cafe. Well, this new cafe is just an ordinary cafe but it has been launched recently by the Indian Postal Department – IPO. The cafe has been opened in the popular General Post Office – GPO building in Kolkata. The cafe, also known as the restaurant, is called Siuli. It has been launched to act as a philatelic ancillary shop.

The cafe is touted to be one of the nation’s first-ever post office cafes. It will be run by the in-house catering department. The cafe operates from 10 AM to 7 PM. Before the GPO had a small staff canteen that used to work at the hall’s corner and the remaining hall was utilized as a counter for philatelic ancillaries such as coasters, cushions, brass plates, stamps, and mugs. The cafe will provide the sales operations of this stuff by an in-house team.

The cafe will also have parcel booking counters which are fully operational. The innovative idea of this cafe is to establish a strong relationship with the present generation. It is for the advancement of the people. The idea of this post office cafe is it has bright colors for the sofa sets and wooden furniture. The cafe is spread around a 1,450 sq ft area.

The space has been renovated to give it a modern touch. Also, the cafe serves a dual purpose of giving food and also acts as a shopper’s paradise. Customers will also get to purchase, cups, trinkets, t-shirts, and many other things.

In the past, I have always wondered how cafes are getting new ideas to lure customers. Cafes are not only restricted to serving coffees and sandwiches nowadays. But they also have different ideas to sell cakes, and accessories or stuff that can make people attracted to the space.

If you are in Kolkata, you can simply explore these cafes apart from the post-office cafe. You can spend around 500rs to 1000rs for 2 people. The famous cafes in Kolkata include Blue Mug, The Bakery, Calcutta 64, The Love Room, The Bikers Cafe, Mrs. Magpie, Paris Cafe, Cafe 4/1, and The Country House, Cocoa Bakery, Waterside Cafe, and others.

Let us agree with the fact that spending time in a cafe is one of the best parts of modern culture. After all, being in a cafe can help you to bring people together from different backgrounds and create a new wonderful experience to bond and connect with each other. In India, coffee culture has been there for ages. If you see people like drinking coffee for more than a thousand years.

In Kolkata, it has seen a Coffee House existing since 1876. People went on to provide a new wave of cafes for the common public of all ages. Potboiler Coffee House, TRIBE Cafe, and King’s Bakery are some of the best cafes in Kolkata as per an article mentioned by a media portal. Carry some extra bucks if you wish to explore interesting food items in the cafe and also sip extra cups of coffee.
