Human beings are emotional people. We are lying to ourselves if we say that it doesn’t make a difference when we see someone in pain or in suffering. Also, as we all are home and unable to see our relatives and friends, some sort of tension keeps going on in our minds. Moreover, the distressing news of people passing away and getting infected with the life-threatening disease of coronavirus can take a toll on people’s mental health if left unchecked.
According to mental health professionals, these events of pandemic times are quite traumatic to people of any age group and mental strength. Prolonged stress if not taken precaution can lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other severe mental health issues in the long run.
Hence, in order to reduce the emotional problems, we can follow some tips and suggestions for a good life now and in the long run.
1) Don’t think about the past and don’t think about the future. Well, what happened in the pre-pandemic era, happened whether good or bad. We don’t have control over our future happenings, so imagining how good or bad the post-pandemic world will be is of no use as well. Just focus on the now and take each day one at a time.
2) Focus on your breath. It is important that you meditate by simply closing your eyes and listening to your breath. If you want, you can play on some instrumental music of a soothing piano or violin in the background and just focus on the soft belly breathing patterns as you listen to music. It can be for 10 minutes or 30 minutes, your choice but it has to be done every day without fail.
3) Keep moving here and there. Sitting at one place and just watching the television set or your laptop for hours and hours will not take you anywhere but only in trouble. So, it is better you get up, walk, do some household chores, stand and stretch your body, hands, and legs, and remove all your worries away.
Even if your stress issues are not coming under control, then don’t mind seeking a professional counselor who can help you come out of the situation in a steady process.
