It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna made the Akshaya Patra bowl powerful for Draupadi who is the wife of five Pandavas in Mahabharata. It is said that once while the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi were completing their exile in the forests, the saint Durvasa and his group of saints arrived to get food at Draupadi’s house. It so happened that the Pandavas and Draupadi were having their food before Durvasa’s arrival and hence, the food was almost over. As there was a lack of food and it was difficult to say no to the saints as it would be a sign of disrespect, Draupadi prayed to Lord Krishna who came to her assistance and made the magical bowl Akshaya Patram full of food to serve meals to the saints. It is believed that the magical bowl will always remain full of food of choice and if required it can even serve food to the whole universe.
We wish all a very Happy Akshaya Tritiya 2021!
