This type of addiction is called workaholism which has been socially accepted in various office setups and has been also encouraged by employers to give promotions and salary raises.
Although health maintenance of work and life is 100% recommended by healthcare providers it has been found that once in the lifetime of every employee, he has been suffered or suffering from workaholism due to the changing nature of business and demanding targets that makes one put in those extra hours of work and stay back in the office to achieve the targets and sustain his or her job.
Here are some signs to determine if you are a workaholic:
1) Do you come to the office early, stay back till late evening and even skip your lunch on many days in a working month? Then yes, you are a workaholic who feels the urge to be busy all the time, either to please your team leader or boss or you are afraid of losing your job because the majority of the teammates follow this workaholic culture.
2) Do you have the uncontrollable need to keep taking more projects so that your job remains secured or you want to outperform other colleagues at your workplace or you don’t have anything to do in your personal life and have thought that your work is life, then you are definitely a workaholic.
3) Do you talk about work the most even with your friends or life partner? Do you not imagine anything beyond work in life? Do you keep thinking about how well you can perform the next day’s task while you are lying on your bed to sleep? All these are clear signs that you are just married to your work and nothing else interests you in your life.
