Significance of Navratri festival 2020, Day 1

The auspicious festival of Navratri begins on 17 October 2020. Maa Shailaputri is worshipped on the first day of the Navratri festival.

Ghatasthapana and Shailaputri puja is performed on the first day of Navratri as it denotes women power.

Maa Shailaputri is the daughter of mountains and a form of Goddess Durga. She is also called as Sati, Bhavani, Parvati, and Hemavati.

Maa Shailaputri is the complete form of Mother Nature and known to have the earthly essence. She is indeed the first Navadurga.

Mantra of Shailaputri Puja:
ॐ देवी शैलपुत्र्यै नमः॥
Om Devi Shailaputryai Namah॥

Prarthana or Prayer of Shailaputri:
वन्दे वाञ्छितलाभाय चन्द्रार्ध कृतशेखराम् ।
वृषारूढाम् शूलधराम् शैलपुत्रीम् यशस्विनीम् ॥
Vande Vanchhitalabhaya Chandrardhakritashekharam।

Color of clothes / saree to wear on the first day of Navratri is ORANGE.
