Childhood is the period when we learn many new things in our lives. It is childhood that even if we make any mistakes unknowingly or knowingly, we don’t get that severe punishment as when we grow up and become adults. Childhood is a sacred time to learn those things that are too much value in our life. However, not everyone is blessed with a safe and smooth childhood.

There are several unfavorable influences in the environment that can make or even break one’s childhood drastically. Here are some ways how one can spot those wrong signs that are influencing their children’s childhood and help them walk on the right path:
1) Your child hides things from you:
If you find your child playing with a toy or having some extra money in his pocket, and in response, he tells you that your spouse or parents gave him, but if that’s not the case, then he is hiding with you some major important negative influences in his life. Your child may have got that expensive toy from a friend or not a good well-wisher who is misusing your child’s innocence to get his work done in an unlawful way. That’s why you need to have honest and transparent communication with your child to understand who his friends are, where he goes to play and how revealing the truth to you can help the entire family from facing dire consequences in the future.
2) Your child is performing poorly in academics:
Your child may have ranked well in the initial years of his school but as he is growing up, he is getting distracted in school either by giving more time to extra-curricular activities or some friends who are influencing him to pass on his precious time in a wrong manner. If you find movie tickets or games on your child’s mobile, it is time to question your child about the reasons for performing badly in academics. You can encourage him to join the tuition and also teach him the importance of having good friends wherever he goes.
3) Your child is asking you for privacy and more freedom:
Nowadays children want to have freedom and privacy even at a tender age. Your child may not have crossed even the age of 13 to ask such things but if he is telling you not to touch his mobile phone or check his social media accounts, then you need to find out what privacy he is looking for and why. You need to be talking up front to him and ask if he has a crush on school or tuition or neighborhood. Or if he has got into any sort of addiction to games or internet activities that he doesn’t want his parents to know. The more you talk transparently and explain to him the side effects of having such addictions, the more your child will come out in the open and share with you what he is up to in his life.
