Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna has a reason to smile. His Feed India initiative has crossed more than 30 million meals.
The unique campaign was started in April this year in order to feed millions of needy people across 135 cities in India during the coronavirus pandemic.
Vikas was born in India and has an experience of working in New York for over 20 years.
He thought of helping out people in this global crisis when humanity is what wins over any materialistic thing.
Feed India, or Barkat gained more importance due to the social media impact as Vikas asked his 2.3 million followers on Twitter to visit orphanages, old-age homes and more to understand if the ration and supplies are enough for the residents there.
He also marked the 30 Millionth meal as a tribute to Bollywood lyricist Manoj Muntashir with a patriotic song starring Akshay Kumar.
Vikas said on social media, “Today we complete 5 months of #FeedIndia with my 24/7 focus. Its now one of The World’s Largest Food Drives coordinated by an individual. Though I didn’t sleep much, but my wake up call has been TERI MITTI.”
