China’s Yuan Liping has become the new billionaire after Asia’s most expensive divorce (breakup) amid the Corona crisis. The divorce took place between Du Weimin and Yuan Liping, president of the Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products Company. According to a report, Du Weimin gave 161.3 million shares of Vaccine Maker to his ex-wife Yuan Liping in exchange for divorce. The shares were valued at $ 3.2 billion until the stock market closed on Monday.
Yuan Liping, a 49-year-old Canadian citizen, is now the sole owner of these shares that she got under the signing of an agreement giving her voting rights to ex-husband Du Weimin. Liping currently lives in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. He has also worked as a director in the Kangtai Company between May 2011 and August 2018. She is now the Vice General Manager of Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Company.
The price of shares of the Kangatai company has more than doubled in the last one year. Shares of the company have continued to soar since February 2020 following the announcement to develop the Corona virus-fighting vaccine. However, shares of the company have fallen after reports of divorce on Tuesday. Hong Kong lost 3.1 per cent till 9:43 am and the company’s market capitalization fell to $ 12.9 billion.
