The radio promotion pioneer Richard Allan “Dickie” Kline has died at the age of 82 due to natural causes.
Richard is renowned for his work as head of radio promotion at Atlantic Records in 1960s.
Serving as senior VP at Atlantic Records, he managed to succeed at his projects at radio like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Eric Clapton, Bette Midler, the Spinners, ABBA, Roberta Flack and others.
He is known to be a very active and powerhouse of a man with fast talking skills and that assurance in his voice.
His work with Foreigner in 1976 led to the band’s huge success which has increased sales of more than 50 million albums.
Born in 1938 and raised in Brooklyn, he started his career in the music industry in 1958 as a sales rep for Syd Nathan’s King Records alongside future industry shakers Bob Krasnow and Seymour Stein.
Later, he worked at Walt Disney Records and then at London Records before gettng an opportunity to join Atlantic in 1967.
He is survived by his son Steven Kline, who works as Better Noise label group COO. He also has a sister sister,Julie; his other sons Jeff, Jason and grandchildren Amanda and Jaron.
