Noida (UP): After Delhi, Kerala and Jharkhand, a suspected monkeypox case was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida area on Wednesday, health officials said on Wednesday. When a 47-year-old woman was down with the symptoms of the disease on Tuesday, her blood samples were taken. The samples were sent for a test to Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh. According to health officials, anything can be said about the patient only after the reports are received, besides the patient’s travel was not yet confirmed.

Earlier, three cases of monkeypox were reported from Kerala, one from Delhi and one from Jharkhand. The symptoms of monkeypox are similar to those of the smallpox, but it is clinically less severe, experts said. A patient takes two/three weeks to get rid of the disease. According to a recent study, the disease generally spreads from animal to man, but it may also spread through sexual relationship between man and man, clothes, kiss and touch.
