From liquid shampoos to dry shampoos, the market is full of choices for consumers. With the pace at which life is moving, we are all looking for fast, easy-to-use convenient things for daily life, be it food, grooming, or any other thing that saves time. But with a quick fix comes a lot of cons, so one has to be mindful of the choices made for a long-term healthy life.
Recently, Unilever Plc had to recall its dry shampoo range including Dove because of the content of benzene in them that can lead to cancer with excessive use.
Apart from Dove, others like Nexxus, Suave, Tresemmé, and Tigi, were also recalled as per the information posted by the Food and Drug Administration on its official website.
It is not the first time, Unilever’s products have been recalled before as well and this flags lot of questions regarding the quality of products with aerosols in the personal-care range. In the past couple of years, a huge range of aerosol-based products especially sunscreens from Neutrogena, Banana Boat etc, have been pulled from shelves. The decision of recalling them was based on findings of benzene in these products by an analytical lab called Valisure, in New Haven, US.
As per FDA, such exposure to benzene and other such harmful chemicals are hazardous to health and causes blood cancer which has become a common disease and more and more of the current population is getting trapped in this.
These products may seem very good, and convenient to use but one should definitely read the list of chemicals before making a purchase for the sake of personal health. A lot of indigenous products are available in the market that works as great alternatives and are absolutely chemical-free. They may not give you a salon-like look but are undoubtedly good for you and your body.
