A single-dose vaccine developed by Johnson and Johnson has been added to the vaccination shelves. On August 5, the American pharmaceuticals business requested emergency use permission for its single-shot vaccination from the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).
So far, India has used the Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India, the Covaxin vaccine from Bharat Biotech, and the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. “India adds to its vaccination arsenal! India now possesses five EUA vaccinations, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccination does not employ messenger RNA (mRNA) to help the body establish its defenses against the virus, unlike its American counterparts, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Instead, like the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, it’s an adenovector vaccine. In this scenario, the coronavirus’ characteristic spike protein gene is inserted into an adenovirus, a common virus that causes colds or flu-like symptoms and, when injected into the body, provides the instructions that direct human cells to manufacture the spike protein. As a result, the immune system produces antibodies to target the spike protein.

According to studies, the Johnson & Johnson vaccination is 66% efficient in avoiding moderate to severe disease and 85% effective in preventing severe COVID-19 cases. According to research, it entirely avoided hospitalization and mortality four weeks following inoculation.
One scandal after another has dogged the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. For example, on April 13, the US authorities halted the vaccine’s distribution to examine a few reports of patients developing blood clots after getting the vaccination.
