New Delhi: As several cases of monkeypox have been detected the Central Government have issued guidelines to check the disease, health officials said on Wednesday. The guidelines include 21-isolation, wearing visors, washing hands and keeping lesions fully covered. Besides the national capital, confirmed monkeypox cases were reported from Kerala, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The health officials have identified 14 contacts of the first monkeypox patient in Delhi have been identified, health officials said.

Meanwhile, another suspect case was identified and admitted to the Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan Hospital in Delhi. His blood samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune. The Delhi government has directed the hospital to follow the guidelines. The monkeypox symptoms consist of headache, body ache, fever, cough, sore throat and lesions on the body. A patient should remain in isolation for 21 days and should come out only once the lesions fall off.
