Panji, Goa: Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader and MP, arrived in Goa for a one-day visit during which the party’s candidates will take a vow of allegiance in his presence. After the polls, the candidates will swear not to defect. The Congress won 17 of the 40 seats in Goa in 2017, while the BJP won 13.

However, 15 Congress MLAs defected to the BJP in 2019, led by Babu Kavlekar, the Congress’s leader of opposition, who was appointed Deputy Chief Minister by the BJP.
However, the loyalty pledge started by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to sign anti-defection affidavits. Unlike, AAP Congress is following the same process.
Rahul Gandhi was supposed to visit on February 2, however his trip was postponed due to parliament and a trip to Raipur to inaugurate a martyrs’ memorial.

Rahul Gandhi will also meet with tourism industry officials, Anganwadi workers, and others. Later today, he will have a door-to-door campaign in Sada, Mormugao, and meet with candidates.
