Chidambaram statement on TMC’s alliance proposal: TMC poached to Congress leaders

On Sunday, Congress veteran P Chidambaram broke his silence on Mamata Banerjee’s comments on alliance talks in Goa, saying that the Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) proposal was not accepted because it “poached” Congress leaders in the state.

“What I can say is that the TMC suggested that we create an alliance (in Goa). However, certain incidents occurred before and after that “, the senior Congress leader said.

He claimed that the TMC in Goa “poached” Congress leaders ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections. “They poached Luizinho Faleiro, and they poached Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who was on the Congress’s first list of candidates, even after the partnership proposition was made. Other constituencies, like Mormugao and Vasco, were also targeted “Chidambaram went on to say.

He claimed that following these instances, he received no instructions from the upper brass of the Congress on the TMC’s alliance proposal.
