Women will not forgive this administrative system: Priyanka on Women’s Commission reaction

Lucknow: Condemning the statement of a member of the Women’s Commission over the alleged rape and murder case of a woman in Uttar Pradeh’s Badaun, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said that women will not forgive this administrative system and vilification.

Ms Vadra posted on her Facebook wall on Friday, “Will we be able to ensure women safety with this behaviour? Member of the Women’s Commission is blaming the victim for the rape. The Badaun administration is concerned about how the post-mortem of the victim, who exposed the truth about the case, was leaked?”

In a warning-like tone, she said, “Remember that at this time, the Moradabad victim is fighting a battle between life and death in another horrific rape case. The women will not forget this administrative system and mindless statements.”

Notably, National Women’s Commision member Chandramukhi Devi had on Thursday visited the home of the victim family in Badaun and had sought information from the police officials. Later, while talking to journalists, she said that had the victim taken a member of her family along while going to the temple during the evening, this heinous crime could have been prevented.

She added that the culprits should get stringent punishment, saying that the negligence of police has come to the fore in this case. Had the police been active, this incident could have been averted.
