Four days after Vikas Dubey encounter, ADG gave complete information about Kanpur massacre
Kanpur: The Kanpur police arrested the accused of Bikeru police encounter Shashikant, an aide of gangster Vikas Dubey, late on Monday night. A reward of 50 thousand rupees was declared on the head of Shashikant.
On the basis of interrogation of Shashikant, the AK 47 rifle and 17 cartridges of the police were looted in the police encounter and the INSAS rifle and its 20 cartridges were recovered.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar told a press conference in Kanpur on Tuesday that Shashikant alias Sonu, a 50,000 accused in a police encounter, was arrested from Chaubepur at 2.50 pm on Monday.
He told that Shashikant gave information about the inquiry that the looted ammunition is hidden in his and Vikas Dubey’s house. Based on this information, AK 47 rifles and 17 cartridges were recovered from Vikas Dubey’s house and INSAS rifles and 20 cartridges were recovered from Shashikant’s house. These weapons were looted by the police during the encounter.
He said that out of the 21 named accused in Bikaru police encounter, four accused have been arrested, six accused have been killed in separate police encounters. Right now 11 named accused are being searched.
ADG Prashant Kumar said that Shashikant has told the police during interrogation that he has confessed that he was on his terrace with Vikas on the day of the incident. Shashikant told the police during interrogation that Prem Kumar, Shyamu Bajpai, Rajendra Mishra, Dayashankar Agranihotri Prabhat Mishra, Shivam, Ziladar, Ramsingh, Ramesh Chand, Akhilesh Mishra, Vipul and others were involved in the attack on the police team.
On 9 July 2020, Madhya Pradesh Police arrested Vikas Dubey from outside the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain and handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Police. Vikas Dubey’s companions Prabhat and Praveen were killed in separate encounters. Dubey’s wife Richa Dubey was also arrested by the police for questioning. On July 10, Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter with STF at Ujjain in Kanpur area while bringing Ujjain to Kanpur.
