New Delhi: Former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Jaswant Singh has passed away. He was ill for several months. Jaswant Singh was 82 years old. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over his death.

Jaswant Singh resigned from the post of Major in the Army in 1960 and joined politics. He was at the top of his career in the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. During the NDA rule from 1998 to 2004, Jaswant headed the Ministries of Finance, Defense and Foreign Affairs.
