Lucknow: The CM Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has taken a big decision against those who write the word caste indicator on vehicles. The government has announced that it will now be considered a crime to write caste-related words like Rajput, Brahmin, Yadav, Jat, Kshatriya, etc. on vehicles.
Additional Transport Commissioner Mukesh Chandra has ordered an immediate campaign against such vehicles and has ordered all the RTOs that whether caste is written on the vehicle or on the number plate, it should be immediately seized.
In this case, action will be taken to challan or seize the car under section 177 if there is a caste indicator on the vehicles. Let there be a total of 25 lakh vehicles in the capital Lucknow including 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers.
The report states that the issue came into the eye of government officials after Maharashtra teacher Harshal Prabhu wrote a letter describing the vehicles as ‘casteist’ and “a threat to the social fabric.”
