New Delhi: Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter by security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir while a jawan was killed and another was injured. In the meantime, mobile internet service has been stopped from last night to prevent any kind of rumor from spreading in Shopian.

A Defense Ministry spokesperson said that on the basis of intelligence inputs about the hideout of militants, personnel of National Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday late evening Shopian A joint search operation was started in Vanga village of the district, closed at night, this campaign was resumed in the morning. The operation comes to an end after the bodies of both the terrorists killed in Kaso were recovered.

According to the spokesperson, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, the terrorists hiding there opened fire, the security forces also retaliated with which the encounter started. The soldiers asked the militants to surrender but they continued firing. A terrorist was also killed in the encounter last evening. Another terrorist was killed in the night. The encounter continued overnight. So far two militants have been killed in the encounter. The operation ended today, two soldiers were injured in the encounter after which a jawan died while undergoing treatment at the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. One MI One and an AK rifle have been recovered so far from the encounter site.
