Bengaluru: Karnataka Minister K. Srinivasa Pujari said on Tuesday that temples in the state will be opened to the public from June 1, which have been closed to devotees for more than two months due to the enforced lockdown in view of Covid-19.
“There was a discussion with the Chief Minister regarding the Muzarai Department, during which time it was decided to open the temples from June 1,” said Pujari. After the meeting with Yeddyurappa, he told reporters that the plan is to allow all services there once the temples reopen, but as per the situation, they can limit it a bit.
“We will decide on that,” he said. He said that as trains, flight services, vehicular traffic started and hotels were expected to start soon, many devotees were demanding the temple be opened. The minister said, “The temples will open for worship and daily rites and we will not allow fairs and events in the temples.”
There are more than 34 thousand temples in the state which come under the Muzarai department.
