New Delhi: Alcohol sales have begun in several states amid lockdowns implemented to prevent corona infection. In many places, social distancing is not being practiced outside liquor shops. Hearing the petition regarding this, the Supreme Court on Friday refused to ban the sale of liquor.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court, which said that long lines were being installed outside the shops and this could increase the risk of corona virus infection. In such a situation, these shops should be closed.
Hearing the petition, the Supreme Court rejected it and the bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan said that we will not pass any order regarding this. This is a policy issue of the state governments, but states should consider home delivery or indirect sale of liquor to uphold the norms and standards of social distancing.
