New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has offered her resignation in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which is currently underway. Congress workers and supporters from Delhi are protesting and raising slogans outside the AICC office saying that they want the party president to be from the Gandhi family only.

As per the sources, Sonia Gandhi, in the CWC meet asked to start the process to elect a new party chief. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior Congress member and Rajya Sabha MP A.K. Antony have urged Sonia to sustain her position as the party chief. Also, Antony slammed those who are questioning the party leadership, he said that such a letter from the end of colleagues weakens the party.

Congress leader KC Venugopal read Sonia Gandhi’s letter, Sonia had asked to be relieved of duty as the Congress party president. The meeting began at around 11.15 a.m., Congress leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Capt Amarinder Singh, KC Venugopal and others had joined the virtual CWC meeting where the party leadership issue is to be discussed.
