New Delhi: Three militants have been wiped out in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district this morning. A police official said that security forces had conducted a search operation in Turkwangam area of ​​Shopian after receiving information about the presence of terrorists.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Reban area of Shopian, in South Kashmir, this morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

According to officials, during a search operation in the Turkwangam area, the militants started firing on the security forces. The jawans searching for this retaliated. Three terrorists died in two-sided firing. The identity and organization of the killed terrorists is being ascertained. Two AK rifles and an INSAS rifle have been recovered from the bodies of these terrorists.

According to Inspector-General of Police of Kashmir Vijay Kumar, they tightened the siege when security forces found the hideout of the militants during a search operation in Turkwangam area in Shopian district of South Kashmir. Seeing the terrorists surrounded themselves, the four started firing. This was followed by heavy firing from both sides. The campaign was jointly carried out by the police and the army.
