New Delhi: The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China on Thursday completed the repositioning of its troops at Gogra and Hot Springs in East Ladakh as agreed with the Indian Army. The top government source said that the first phase of disengagement at the friction point between the Indian and Chinese military has been completed. Under this, the Chinese troops move from finger 4 to finger 5 in the finger area.
He said the two sides have completed construction of a buffer area of three kilometers across the three friction points of Galvan Valley, Gogra and Hot Springs as part of a temporary measure aimed at reducing the possibility of any collision.
According to sources, on Thursday, the PLA has withdrawn its troops completely from Gogra (patrol point 17), and with this, both sides have implemented the first-stage disbandment to avoid any deadlock.
The top government source said, the vacant spaces would be considered as temporary non-patrol zones by India and China and their troupes would not go there. The 2nd round of disengagement will focus on discussions between NSA Doval and the representative of China to return to permanent positions.
