According to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Mauya, the route to Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi would be named after the former Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh. Apart from Ayodhya, he will have a road named after him in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr, and Aligarh. He went on to say that it was a tribute to the late leader.
On Saturday following an illness, Kalyan Singh, a BJP lead politician and former CM of Uttar Pradesh, died at a hospital. Twice (from June 1991 to December 1992 and September 1997 to November 1999) he was the Chief Minister of the Uttar Pradesh and the Governor of Rajasthan (2014-2019). Singh was also a member of the state and national executive committee of the BJP.

While paying tribute, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed Singh as “a loyal son of Bharat Mata.” He stated that the veteran BJP politician would be included among his age who had a significant effect on Indian politics. “Such was Singh’s devotion for Lord Ram that he did not care about the temptation of office when he had to choose between the two,” Adityanath said at the stadium, as hundreds lined up to pay their last respects.
Many dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and other officials paid respect to Singh. When the Babri mosque in Ayodhya was demolished by a mob of “karsevaks” on December 6, 1992, Singh was the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. He was one of 32 persons acquitted in the demolition case in September last year, alongside BJP leaders L K Advani and M M Joshi.
